Executive Director
Needham Children’s Center, Inc opened its doors in September 1980 and I was there to greet each of the 20 preschoolers and 4 toddlers. As one of the school’s original Lead Teachers and it’s executive director for over 33 years, I have to say, “I still love my job”! Working directly with our families, our warm and caring staff and this wonderful community continues to be rewarding. Our NCC family has expanded considerably and the NCC (Needham Children’s Center, Inc) community; staff and administration and families can be proud of our many accomplishments. Our program is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, all our staff meet or exceed the staff qualifications for the state, we all love working with children and we create a curriculum and plan each day with them in mind. Part of my job is to keep up with the times, acknowledge change whether it be a new regulation or technology and implement what is in the best interest of the children. Over the years, when there have been challenging times for families, we have brought the NCC community together to see what part we can play in keeping children safe, happy and children first! I received my Masters in Early Childhood from Wheelock College and worked with them on several initiatives over the years; seat belt legislation, young children and technology, Children’s Defense Fund, Child Care Staffing Study, and coordinating afterschool training for students throughout the country from the Center for Career Development at Wheelock. Currently, I sit on the Board of the Community Center of Needham where we hope to help build a new community pool.
